Later on in the movie they fell in love, and the civil war becomes worst, then Leonardo agrees to give out the list of names that are involved in the black market. Blood diamonds, it is called,because there are so many people killed to mine the rocks.

I pray that my credentials will be competitive enough to be considered and eventually to win the scholarship, so that my plans to have further studies will become possible because I need it in order to further my career aspirations.
